Education in India is at an inflection point where technology is holding out the promise of quality education at low cost and the relevance of that promise for a country like India, which has the paradox of a large population and low standards of education, cannot be lost on anyone. Indian ed-tech market is expected to reach $10.4 billion by 2025, from $2.8 billion in 2020.
The sector has recently been in the spotlight due to the situation created by the global pandemic wherein the sudden lockdown and closing of schools compelled the education system to opt for online education. Since schools were not well equipped and ready for the adoption of online learning, edtech companies came into the picture, helping schools to set up the architecture and infrastructure for e-learning.
According to VCCEdge, the sector has received $3.87 billion funding across 481 deals from private equity investors from 2016 to May 2021. Out of the total funding, $1.5 billion was raised in CY 2020 across 117 deals and $1.4 billion was raised in 2021 (till May).
To discuss the emerging EdTech trends and the challenges faced by the education stakeholders, Mosaic Digital, An HT Media Group Company, is organising its debut edition of VCCircle Reimagining EdTech- Blended Learning on December 3, 2021 on a virtual platform.
